How to Apply for Naturalisation in the US?
As you already may be aware, there are different forms ( available online) for all procedures concerning immigration or naturalisation of migrants, which are available for those interested, in performing the required procedures. For naturalisation, the form is the N-400.
To submit the form you need to create an online account allowing you to:
- Pay the online submission fee
- Check your current status
- Receive notifications and updates
- View individual estimates for case completion dates
- Submit any evidence requested during the process.
- Update contact details, including your address
If you cannot complete the process online, you may send your form in paper format to the USCIS mailing address. This office will send you an acceptance notice that will provide instructions on creating an online account to monitor the progress of your case. Even if you do not create this account, it will not impact the process and USCIS will in any event notify you by email of developments in your case.
How much is the application for naturalisation in the USA?
Filing the application using form N-400 requires an initial fee of USD 640, plus an additional USD 85 for biometric services, a total of USD 725.
Applicants over 75 years of age are exempted from paying for biometric services. In addition, the fee is waived for military applicants filing under INA Section 328 or 329.
If you apply online, you can pay online. If you apply by postal mail, you may pay by money order, personal check, cashier’s check, or credit card together with form G-1450 for Credit Card Transaction Authorization. If paying by check, please make it payable to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
