New migration measures in Cuba

New migration measures enter into force. Cubans with permanent residence in Cuba can directly perform immigration and identification procedures in the offices of Foreigners in Cuba (DIE) such as:

  • Passport application and/or renewal: To apply for a passport for the first time or to renew a passport due to deterioration, expiry, loss or exhaustion of pages, for Cubans residing in Cuba who are travelling on private business:
    • Stamps worth $100.00 CUC
    • Actual attendance of the person concerned
    • ID document: Identity Card or Minor’s Card (up-to-date).
    • For those under the legal age of 18 or legally disabled, a notarised deed of consent from both parents or legal guardian must be submitted. The Act of Consent to Departure is valid as long as one of the parents (guardian or legal representative) files a request for revocation at the procedure office.
  • Application for extension of current passport (every 2 years)
    • Stamps of $20.00 CUC, for every two (2) years of extension.
    • Actual attendance of the person concerned
    • ID document: Identity Card or Minor’s Card (up-to-date).
  • Passport update
    • Exempted from payment
    • ID document: Identity Card or Minor’s Card (up-to-date).
    • Old passport
    • For minors under 18 years of age or legally disabled, a notarised deed of consent from both parents or legal guardian must be submitted.
  • Application for permanent residence in Cuba, for foreigners
    • Stamps worth $40.00 CUC
    • Actual attendance of the person concerned
    • Explanatory letter for the application
    • Medical record summary
    • Two (2) 3×3 cms photos
    • Marriage certificate, birth certificate or other evidence supporting the application made or acknowledged in accordance with Cuban law.
    • Identity document of the relevant person in Cuba: Updated Identity Card.
    • Affidavit performed by the reference person in Cuba, before a notary public and stating their commitment to provide accommodation.
